We hope that in completing this personal challenge for ourselves we can also generate money and awareness for causes that are personal to us.

Our initial goal is £5000 which we hope to raise through fundraising events before and during the trip as well as from donations from our followers.

So ... if you feel inspired by our journey and what we are attempting to do and you want to spur us on, please take the time to make a donation. Small or large anything is appreciated.

The easiest way to support us is to click the link (to the right) which will take you directly to our JustGiving page.

Alternatively search for 'The Overlanding Ambulance' on the JustGiving website.

Many thanks in advance.

In memory of Anthony Dodi
The charity works in the areas of blood cancer and blood disorders. It matches donors with people who need life-saving blood stem cell or bone marrow transplants and provides support, advice and information to people with blood cancer and their families. Anthony Nolan also carries out research to help make bone marrow transplants more effective and improve the lives of all people with blood cancer.

Lawrence’s father Professor Tony Dodi worked for the Anthony Nolan for over 15 years, up until the time of his death in 2008. He worked as a research scientist and was committed to making the charity's goals his life's work.

Lawrence has had a long association with the charity, both through his parents (his mother Pauline still works for the charity) and helping with fundraising such as participating in the 3-peaks challenge in 2009.

The suicide rate amongst vets is nearly 4x that of the general population in the UK, and almost double that of doctors and dentists. Both of us are vets, and know of colleagues and friends in the industry who have suffered from anxiety, mental health issues and lost their lives to suicide.

Vetlife is an independent charity providing emotional, financial and mental health support to the veterinary community, including veterinary nurses and students. The charity operates a telephone and email helpline available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

+ GOing green +

We appreciate that driving a large diesel 4x4 vehicle around the world is not the most eco-friendly means of transport.

The aim is to make 'The Overlanding Ambulance' expedition at the very least carbon neutral in order to combat our contribution to the current global climate crisis.

Part of the plan to achieve this is to offset the carbon emissions that our trip contributes via personal contributions to carbon reduction projects around the world run by the World Land Trust.

In addition, we hope to visit projects along our route that demonstrate the impact of climate change and positive actions being undertaken, in order for us to bring further awareness to such an urgent topic.

"The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of."
Sir David Attenborough
World Land Trust is an international conservation charity that protects the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre-by-acre.

Since its foundation in 1989, World Land Trust and its project partners have been instrumental in the purchase and protection of over 770,000 acres of tropical forest and other threatened habitats through conservation projects around the world.

+ Our green challenge to you ...

Many of us know we should do better, but what can you do when you are not in a position to easily buy or use an electric vehicle? One answer is offset your carbon emissions for your current vehicle.

It's easy and quick to do with the World Land Trust  calculator. Click the calculator on the right to take a look. We are challenging those that follow us to copy us and offset the carbon they produce when they drive.

If you do it please message us and let us know!
